Meet Sage: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Transformation.

THE BASICS:

Born and raised in Miami, Sage is biracial and comes from an orthodox Jewish background and has lived their life as a closeted trans and queer person. Being “othered” or misgendered all their life was painful at first, but now it has transformed into a source of power and pride. It has illuminated how they can use the pain of adolescence by being seen as “other” or “not belonging”, as a means in which they can inspire and support others and be the person they needed when they was younger. Sage strives to do so by allowing their life to be a source of representation and by transforming their social media into a teaching tool for mental health and trans issues.

Before getting top surgery Sage would look in the mirror before and after getting dressed and would feel a disconnect - a fractured self image from the version that lived in their head. It’s been one year since Sage received top surgery and now when they look in the mirror, the image in their head and the one they see are finally the same.

Sage is the general manager at E.I Games an LGBT owned E-learning company (certified by the Miami NGLCC) thats primary objective is teaching leadership skills and diversity intelligence via emotional intelligence. Sage feels so honored and blessed to be exactly who they are and claims their "otherness with great pride, and confidence!

What do you hope to accomplish as a face of pride?

To be a source of representation for those who don’t often see people like them in the media. I know that growing up it was tough to not have a specific person and think “hey that could be me”, and I hope to be that for someone else.

Why is being a Faces of Pride important to you?

I think diversity is crucial and that black non-binary people deserve to be seen and heard in all their

fabulousness.

Who is your Celebrity Crush?

Tough one... it changes everyday. I think for right now I’ll say Helena Bonham Carter as Marla, because I just finished the movie Fight Club.

What is your ultimate travel destination?

Greece!!!

Who is your favorite Disney character?

Can I pick two? Because Timon and Pumbaa are total gay icons.

What sport did you try and FAIL at as a child?

Volleyball. Who knew being 4' 11" could pose a challenge?

If you had a boat, what would you name it?

Brittney

What show on Netflix did you binge watch embarrassingly fast?

Dexter!!! Still dealing with the Nightmares

If you could create one holiday, what would you create?

Let’s all do nothing day

If you could pick one job to do forever (and be guaranteed all the money you need), what job would it be?

Food critic for sure!
