MIAMI BEACH ADA COMPLIANCE

Miami Beach Pride strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities. We take the Americans with Disabilities Act very seriously which is why we are proud to say that we are 98% ADA compliant in our main festival footprint in Lummus Park, Miami Beach.

 

Our festival event in Lummus Park features industrial matting from all major entrances and arteries to allow easy access to all restrooms, food vendor areas, dance floors, performance stages and speciality activated tents allowing for an easy and enjoyable experience. All additional auxiliary facilities we use are 100% ADA compliant.

 

For disabled and neurodiverse members of our community, their disability identity is as much a part of their identity as being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.  They, perhaps more than anyone else, want to be heard and invited into a welcoming space, both physically and attitudinally. We know that making our Pride event truly accessible for disabled and neurodivergent attendees means more than just finding ways to be ADA-compliant which is why we introduced the Calming Pavilion, a safe space with fidgets, coloring books and noise-cancelling headsets as part of our Festival activities in Lummus Park in April 2022.

 

d/Deaf/hard-of-hearing Service: Miami Beach Pride provides tri-lingual performance interpreting services during the weekend festival in Lummus Park.

 

Miami Beach Pride actively partners with the Boucher Brothers who work with the city of Miami Beach to offer the rental of Beach access wheelchairs. The wheelchairs are equipped with large wide wheels which can roll across the sand at ease without sinking. Make sure to call ahead and reserve your beach wheelchair since quantities are limited. The number is (305) 673-7714 and you can pick it up at the Beach Patrol Headquarters located on 1001 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach.

 

Note for Pride’s Family Picnic Programming each season – all craft activities are led by professional teaching artists and are specifically curated to be hands-on and accessible
